No Las Vegas trip is complete without taking in the impressive Las Vegas lights. Whether you’re impressed by modern neon or traditional Vegas-style bulbs, the lights in Vegas are unparalleled; it’s part of what makes Vegas feel so alive! From the iconic Las Vegas sign to the hot air balloon that marks the skyline of the Paris hotel and the giant lighted funnel of The Linq hotel midstrip, there is something exciting to take in for as far as the eye can see on the Vegas strip. Scoping out the selfie situation? You’ll find plenty of things to take photos of on the Las Vegas strip.
Looking for truly nostalgic things to do in Las Vegas? Try a tour of the Neon Lights Museum You’ll get a sampling of that Old Vegas vibe as you tour retired lighted signs from yesteryear.
#2 Thing To Do in Las Vegas: Fountain at Bellagio
This is one of my absolute favorite things to do in Las Vegas!! You could literally spend hours here, mesmerized by the scale of this incredible feat of engineering. But who knew engineering could be so stunningly beautiful? The scale, grace and awe-inspiring nature of this fountain will have you eagerly awaiting the next “performance”.
#3 Thing To Do in Las Vegas: Cirque Du Soleil Shows
Have you ever wanted to do something in Vegas that would literally captivate you? Then a Cirque du Soleil show is where it’s at. Visually stunning costumes, daring acrobatics and exotic talents will keep you entertained and on the edge of your seat. Think Chinese circus with a cheeky French vibe. I’m betting “speechless” is where you’ll find yourself at the end of the show. My personal favorite is “O” which is currently in its 25th year at Bellagio. A live show that runs for 25 years!!!??? Yeah, it’s THAT good!
#4 Thing To Do in Las Vegas: The “Welcome to Vegas” sign
No trip to Vegas is complete without a stop at the iconic Las Vegas sign. This 25-foot nostalgic sign exudes “Classic Vegas” when Sinatra and the Rat Pack reigned supreme in Vegas. An instant landmark, this lighted sign has been welcoming travelers since 1959 and makes the perfect backdrop for any group photo or couples “selfie”.
#5 Thing To Do in Las Vegas: Helicopter Tour
Make Vegas your central hub for cruising out to other fantastic sights such as the Grand Canyon or the Hoover Dam. And if you’re making the trip to any of these famous destinations, why not go over the top with an aerial view? A helicopter provides arguably the best view of these incredible marvels. Whether it’s an engineering feat such as the Hoover Dam, towering over Lake Mead, or the plunging depths of the Grand Canyon, a helicopter ride will give you unparalleled vistas. #6 Thing To Do in Las Vegas: Gondola Ride at Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian
Las Vegas’ world-famous Gondola experience will take you on a journey through the Venetian’s beautiful canals, with breathtaking views of the city skyline. If you’re in the mood for a romantic ride with your special person or just enjoying a truly unique view with your friends, the gondola ride is a must when you’re looking for things to do in Las Vegas. #7 Thing To Do in Las Vegas: Relax and beach it up at
Mandalay Bay
Mandalay Bay is a unique beach stop located at the end of the strip. That’s right. A Beach…on the Vegas strip. Get all that sand between your toes when you get settled into your beach lounger or private cabana. They have actual sand surrounding the pools. If you need more encouragement, there is also a giant wave pool and lazy river for whatever speed you need on your pool days. Grab a cabana so you have the best of both worlds and can pop into the shade when you’re not soaking up the sun (tan responsibly lol). A server will deliver drinks and food directly to your cabana so you don’t have to stand in any lines. They’ll also give you lazy river rafts (included in the cabana but are a paid amenity for lounge chair guests).
#8 Thing To Do in Las Vegas: Go for a ride on the High Roller Observation Wheel

The 30-minute ride is a great way to experience Las Vegas, as the wheel slowly climbs higher and higher, offering ever-changing views that are sure to take your breath away. Once you reach the top, you’ll have a bird’s eye view of the entire city.

Spend some time before or after your ride by strolling the promenade leading up to the High Roller and taking fun selfies with the giant flamingos at the Flamingo hotel. Las Vegas is known for its world-class dining options! Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner, a fun night out with friends, or an exquisite culinary experience, Las Vegas has something to offer. From celebrity chef restaurants to hidden gems and buffets, there’s a wide range of amazing places to choose from. For a truly unique experience, try one of the many fine dining establishments on the Strip (like the foodie hotel, SLS across from the Stratosphere hotel), where you can enjoy exquisite cuisine, beautiful views, and the best of Vegas’ nightlife. Try the Korean fries at Umami Burger. Yum!!! And don’t forget to get your tickets to the annual Food & Wine Expo for delicious samplings from many of Vegas’ top chefs.
Every time I’m in Vegas, I go to my favorite buffet, The Bacchanal, located inside Caesar’s Palace. Buffets in Vegas are not your typical “ponderosa” style buffet. These buffets are backed by several (not just one), several 5-star chefs who are masters in their respective culinary specialties. Also don’t miss the breakfast buffet in the small but spectacular restaurant in the Hilton Resorts World, called The Kitchen. It’s elegant, delicious and affordable! Your taste buds won’t be disappointed.
